Katie & Nick’s Northern California Intimate Vineyard Wedding

Every wedding is beautiful in its own way, and no two of them are the same. They are all unique and hold an essence that’s specific to the couple and their families. They all have a different story to tell and give me a chance to bring out a new perspective each time. This is one of the things that keeps encouraging me to hone my craft and provide my clients with the best photos they can ever get. To document my couple’s special and memorable moments is always an honor, and I can’t express in words how much I love telling these unique stories! So, when I got the opportunity to photograph Katie and Nick’s intimate wedding at the Mettler Family Vineyards in Lodi, CA, I was delighted. It was such a wonderful celebration and the time I spent with my couple and their limited guests was beautiful! I loved creating all those wedding portraits both indoors and against lush green backdrops outdoors and had lots of fun throughout!

Katie and Nick’s wedding was a joyous celebration for my couple and especially the bride’s family. My bride, Katie, had almost lost her father due to dire health issues the previous months. Having him at the wedding and in good health was so wonderful! He was able to not only see his daughter get married, but was able to participate in the ceremony and give a beautiful speech and blessing for his daughter.

My couple’s wedding day was a super hot one, and we were all sweaty, to be honest. But, it neither had an impact on my couple and their guests’ excitement level nor managed to waver my spirits to create some stellar wedding images. Besides all the lovely people around me, what also kept my spirits high was the wedding venue – Mettler Family Vineyards. It was so gorgeous and refreshing! My couple actually loves wine, so when it came to their wedding day, they picked one of their favorite vineyards in Lodi. This venue had so much greenery and a lovely pond, next to which the couple did their ceremony. And, guess what? I got the beautiful images that I had envisioned.

The groom and groomsmen got to catch up before the ceremony. The guys had so much fun. They also made me a part of the group, and we shared some good laughs. It was fun seeing how joyful they all were.

Witnessing the bride and groom see each other for the first time and the tranquil greenery enveloping them was an amazing experience. There was a butterfly that flew around them while they were saying their vows. It was so dreamy! Also, whenever either of them laughed during the ceremony, it was either due to an insanely funny joke or an amusing situation that led to peals of laughter. Their expressions shined bright, making it pure joy to capture all those candid moments into forever photos!

The bride’s dad found a beautiful white arch that he gave to the couple as a gift. The bride said, “It was the most beautiful arch she had ever seen and honestly glowed during the entire ceremony. I now have it in our backyard up against our star Jasmine vines and greenery for us to remember for the rest of our lives.”

I suggested a first look with her father, and that was the most touching moment. The flow of emotions was so genuine and beautiful. It’s one of the bride’s favorite photos of her day. Seeing her father’s reaction and capturing that moment was the sweetest experience. He looked like a tough dad but teared up the second he saw his little girl who’s all grown up now as a bride. Katie’s dad had tears of happiness in his eyes. These moments were so natural and heartwarming that I can’t deny that I too stood with moistened eyes behind the camera.

The father-daughter dance was a great moment too. They were in it. It was extremely cute to see their bond and how happy he was for his daughter. When they were dancing, they were tearing up, laughing, hugging, and just enjoying their time together. At one point, they did their own dance to the song “Wind beneath my wings” by spreading arms out wide. It was so sweet to see the moment unfold. And to be honest, most of the guests watching them stood there with their eyes glistening.

Actually, it was my bride, Katie, who made sure that the DJ did a special shout-out to her dad before she did her first dance with him. She wanted to let him know how incredibly special it was for him to be there in that moment with her. “The fact that he was there made me the happiest girl in the world. He was there and I will never forget it and one day when he isn’t, I know he will already be an angel beneath my wings”, my bride said. Katie, those are some really heart-touching and beautiful thoughts!

The other highlights of this day were the beautiful moments Katie and her groom, Nick, shared. I got some gorgeous portraits of the two as they held hands, embraced, and kissed each other to express their love. The surroundings at the Mettler Family Vineyards set the perfect tone for this wedding and provided me with outstanding backgrounds to create the romantic images that I had planned. The bridal party images also turned out amazing!
